Nomad 2025

I'm leaving Nomad on the anchor and flying back to London. I've never done that before but I'm confident that with the anchor well dug in and 30-40 kg of old chain wrapped in a bundle weighing it down that all will be OK. My neighbours will keep an eye on it and there is nothing horrible on the weather forecast so far. Back on the 3rd of Jan in the new year.

Tuesday 9th December.  Oh dear! The marina is full, I have to stay outside on the anchor until a space comes free which the man said could be a month or two. I think he's scaremongering but I suppose he has to give me the worst case. He showed me the list of twelve boats in the queue ahead of me. Very strong winds are expected at the weekend, if Nomad survives that without the anchor dragging then I would feel confident leaving the boat anchored over Christmas. I'll have to read up on anchoring.

No wind. I'm sitting right on top of the anchor in 5 metres of crystal clear water.

Pasito Blanco marina. Back on the boat and looking forward to moving on, this place is as quiet as a graveyard. There is one restaurant, no shops or bars. However, I have to wait until Sunday at least for the wind to change and allow me to move on up the coast to Las Palmas. This is up the road. Apparently Gran Canaria has very clear skies, good for star gazing and these were used for tracking early Apollo missions.
