Into the inland sea 'La Mar Menor'. Much more developed than I expected. All very shallow and It's supposed to be choc full jellyfish but I haven't seen any yet.
La Manga is very built up along the thin strip of land. My parents owned a house in Los Alcazares in very early 2000s and visited a couple of times per year.
I'll be here or hereabouts for the next 3 months. Not for the first time the Vesuvians have gatecrashed my party. For a moment there I thought it was my imagination, but then this!
The sea is still lumpy after yesterday's high winds so I haven't gone very far. It's a great anchorage here in Torrevieja, in the heart of the town and very sheltered. The sea off Torrevieja is full baby Portuguese men of war jellyfish, for miles and miles. Edit: they're not baby Portuguese men o war, they're: https://www.majorcadailybulletin.com/holiday/beaches/2025/04/04/132335/mallorca-beach-little-sails-like-jellyfish-invade-puerto-pollensa-covering-beaches-around-mallorca.html#goog_rewarded
I think they are based at San Javier, which is on the northern shore. The airfield/airport there once had commercial flights to Stansted.
